TRANSWESTERN ROLE
Robert Duncan founded Transwestern in 1978, and today actively oversees the organization as Executive Chairman. The closely held private multi‑generation real estate company is fully integrated and broadly diversified in investment, development, and services focused on high quality, institutional grade properties in all the major U.S. markets across all product types. In pursuit of Transwestern's bold vision to become the #1 real estate value creator in America, Robert works alongside the company's seasoned teams, as well as his six sons, who all have integral roles, and as principals, serve on Transwestern's Board of Directors. Transwestern is a values‑driven enterprise known for building enduring relationships through mutual trust and consistent performance.
Robert graduated from the University of Texas in Austin with a BBA degree from the Business Honors Program, an MBA in finance, and an LLB degree. Robert supports his alma mater through service on the University's Development Board, as a lifetime member of the McCombs School of Business Advisory Board, and as a founding member of the Advisory Council for the UT Real Estate Center. He is also a founding member of the Executive Advisory Board for the University of Houston's C.T. Bauer College of Business Real Estate Program.
Robert is a member of the Real Estate Roundtable, a YPO Gold member, past Chairman of the Houston Chapter of the Young Presidents Organization, and a member of the international Chief Executives Organization. He is a past director of the St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital System, the Greater Houston YMCA, the Kinkaid School, and the Greater Houston Community Foundation, where he remains a lifetime member.
Robert has been recognized for his professional and community contributions by notable honors, including his induction into the Texas Business Hall of Fame, Industry Leader award from the Cornell Real Estate Review, the Howard Horn Legacy Award from NAIOP Houston, and the Visionary Leader of the Year award from Scenic Houston. He is a recipient of the Houston Business Journal Lifetime Achievement Award and the George Washington Distinguished Service Award from the Sons of the American Revolution.
Robert resides in Houston with his wife of 40 years, Marcy, and together they are actively involved in the lives of their sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren. Robert and Marcy are active members of Our Lady of Walsingham Catholic Church.
