TRANSWESTERN ROLE
Jim joined Transwestern in 2018 to expand the firm’s agency leasing services in Downtown Minneapolis. Jim began his career in 1988 with a local real estate investment and development firm specializing in the redevelopment and repositioning of under-performing real estate assets. The depth and breadth of Mr. Montez’s ability to understand complex real estate issues comes from his wide range of experience addressing his clients’ needs in every capacity and from all perspectives, from the investors and sellers to the landlords and tenants. Rounding out this value-adding combination is his multi-faceted experience with office, industrial, telecom, and multifamily product types.

Jim’s clients have included institutional investors such as Piedmont Office Realty Trust, TIAA CREF, Principal Financial Real Estate Investors, United Properties, Carlson Real Estate Companies, IRET, Equity Office Trust, REIT Management and Research, and a variety of specialized and local investors. His corporate clients include SALO, 27th Row, StoneArch Creative, Blackwell Burke, Pentair, Qwest, General Mills, The Nature Conservancy, and Piper Jaffray. Jim is a Downtown Minneapolis office leasing veteran with over 30 years of experience in commercial real estate, primarily focused on landlord representation and asset repositioning. His pivotal role in transforming multiple historic redevelopments has resulted in more than 1.2 million square feet of completed deals, revolutionizing the Minneapolis North Loop.
